The Artist - Virginia Hanley

me photo_edited.jpg

As a young artist in Florida, I ventured to Miami Beach in 1990 with dreams of becoming a great artist.
I was juried into the South Florida Art Center, hired as an artist to hand paint fabric for the interior design industry, worked as a mural painter, book illustrator, editorial cartoonist and a zillion other things.  All the experience had nothing to do with becoming a great artist. What will make me a great artist is how well I can share my creative approach with humanity.

33rd Annual Hortt Exhibition 1991

At age 23, my oil painting, "90 Miles to Freedom" was juried into the Fort Lauderale Museum 33rd Annual Hortt Exhibition.
I sold this painting and have yet to find my photo!
